2021: Surface technology is going digital, the conferences are analogue

Two years ago, WIAM began to deal with digitization in surface technology. The surface technology is a high-end technology, but for a long time it mainly scored with the incredibly large amount of experience.

This year we were able to see how the digital impulse is now also arriving in surface technology. And this in two analogue events. With highly professional hygiene concepts, the V2021 (above) took place in Dresden in October and the 15th Aachen Surface Technology Colloquium (below) in December in Aachen. WIAM personally attended both events.

With plenty of distance to each other, the number of lectures on digitization, data management and simulation has increased rapidly. At the V2021 with around 300 participants, one of five workshop topics was even dedicated exclusively to digitization.
