WIAM attended the workshop Plasma Technology 4.0

Only a few technologies are so ubiquitous, however unknown in the public, like the plasma surface technology. Every computer chip, many bearer, most of the turbine blades and all bags of crisps are processed through plasma surface technology. And there are many more examples.

Those processes, called PVD, CVD and thermal spraying, produce large quantities of data, which is commonly used without foresight and in an inefficient way. The industrial network INPLAS e.V. realized this fact during some working sessions.

Consequently, they organized a workshop on the topic in Berlin on 8th May 2019. Manufacturers of plasma technologies as well as coating companies and OEMs with their own coating departments participated in this workshop. With its particular insight to data management and to the fusion of IT and plasma surface technology competency, in participating in this workshop, WIAM was able to demonstrate that data management for physically complex production process is possible and can be likewise efficient.

We are happy about our new contacts and are looking forward to more exchange with the surface technology.
